You'll love this recipe because it turns frozen chicken into a juicy, flavorful meal with minimal prep, simple ingredients, and a sweet savory glaze that works for busy weeknights or meal prep.
Things to Know Before Making Honey Mustard Frozen Chicken Thighs in Air Fryer
- Cooking at a lower temperature first helps safely defrost the chicken without drying it out
- The honey mustard glaze is added after partial defrosting so the honey does not burn
- Preheating the air fryer helps the chicken cook more evenly
- Use a digital thermometer to confirm the chicken reaches 165°F
- Naturally gluten-free, our air fryer chicken thighs are also low-carb and keto-friendly. While we do use honey, each honey mustard chicken thigh has just 5-net carbs!
- Air fryer frozen chicken thighs will also work well for a dairy-free lifestyle and can be eaten if you follow paleo (but we do recommend you don't eat a ton of these on paleo as mustard is a grey area).

How to Cook Honey Mustard Frozen Chicken Thighs in Air Fryer
Step 1: Preheat the air fryer to 320°F for 5 minutes. Starting at a lower temperature allows the frozen chicken to begin defrosting evenly.
Step 2: While the air fryer preheats, mix the olive oil, stone ground mustard, honey, garlic salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. This creates a smooth glaze that will be added once the chicken partially defrosts.
Step 3: Add the frozen chicken thighs to the air fryer and cook for 3 minutes. Check the thighs and pull them apart if they are stuck together.
Step 4: Brush the honey mustard glaze over both sides of the chicken thighs. Make sure they are well coated for the best flavor.
Step 5: Increase the air fryer temperature to 400°F and cook for 10 minutes total, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Substitutions and Variations
- Use your favorite bottled honey mustard glaze instead of homemade
- Swap stone ground mustard for Dijon mustard
- Serve plain without glaze for a simple seasoned chicken thigh
- Double the glaze ingredients for extra sauce on the side
What to Serve with Honey Mustard Frozen Chicken Thighs in Air Fryer
