Hello! I'm Jenni and welcome to Whole Lotta Yum! I'm obsessed with creating high protein low carb recipes, meals using real ingredients, and I love meal prepping too. Life's too short to spend every night cooking and we're to help make healthy recipes even easier for you!
I'm a recipe creator, food photographer, wife, mom, and fur baby lover that lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest outside of the Seattle area.
When I'm not creating new things in the kitchen or behind the camera lens, you'll find me traveling with my family, kitchen dancing, taming my naturally curly frizz, or trying to memorize ABBA songs.
While my career background is in accounting and banking, I traded my calculator for a spatula in 2018 because life is just too short not to go after our dreams. And being creative is way more fun than crunching numbers and staring at spreadsheets!
Since food blogging is a 70-80 hour per week job, not only is it a full-time business for me, but I feel blessed to work with my daughter, Madi (social media and admin), and my husband, Derek, was just able to retire early from his corporate job to help with recipe development (the meat master and expert kitchen cleaning crew!)

How Whole Lotta Yum was started
After getting told I was pre-diabetic and had an immune system disorder, combined with numerous serious food sensitivities, I ditched dairy, gluten, and sugar, and I started focusing my cooking experiments on healthier whole foods instead of the desserts and cookies in my past.
My husband also started a keto diet around this time to jumpstart his weight loss, while keto is never meant as a long term health plan, it did help him lose 40 lbs before switching to a low carb clean eating lifestyle. We have a ton of low carb recipes on our site that helped him and our readers lose weight over the years.
Both of our lifestyle and health changes became the inspiration for starting Whole Lotta Yum, which focuses on a variety of healthy recipes using fresh ingredients and whole foods. We particularly have a lot of meal prep, low carb, gluten free, keto friendly, sugar free, and air fryer recipes on our website.
What started as a hobby in 2018 quickly grew into a full-time business by the end of the year. And we are BEYOND thankful for our 1 million+ visitors per month and 50,000 email subscribers. We feel blessed beyond words with your continued support and trust.
We use fresh ingredients and stay away from processed foods as much as possible in our day-to-day lives, that being said we're still human, have kids, and still stick to the old family holiday favorites come Thanksgiving and Christmas. (Hello once a year Jello pretzel salad). Life is all about balance.
Protein has changed my life! Literally
In 2023 I was introduced to high protein macro eating after I started working with the amazing transformation coaches at Rebellion Body. Eating high protein macro friendly meals will permanently be a way of life for me, it had a significant instant impact on my physical and mental health.
Issues I've had for decades disappeared within 2 weeks of switching to tracking macros instead of calories. As a former sugar addict, an obsession with sweets and inability to kick the sugar habit led to 20+ years of yoyo dieting. I literally spent 20 years trying to lose the same 20 lbs and kept from sizes 6-16 in my closet depending on where I was at at the time.
Most of the meals I create for Whole Lotta Yum and how we eat at home are high protein low carb since I still have a little weight to lose and am working to build muscle. I am NOT against carbs at all and think they're essential to our energy levels, brain health, and overall well-being.
Cooking expertise
I'm a self-taught home chef who has been tinkering and running food experiments in the kitchen for over 30 years. I'm always looking to learn more about food science through studying, testing, getting inspiration from foodie travel, or taking cooking classes around the globe.
My 2024 goal is to become a certified macro coach and a licensed nutritionist so I can continue serving my audience by adding on professional food education expertise.
