Hello! I'm Jen and welcome to Whole Lotta Yum!
I'm a wife, mom, fur baby lover, and recipe creator that lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest outside of the Seattle area. When I'm not creating new things in the kitchen or behind the camera lens, you'll find me traveling with my family, kitchen dancing, taming my naturally curly frizz, or trying to memorize ABBA songs.
While my career background is in accounting and banking, I traded my calculator for a spatula in 2018 because life is just too short not to go after our dreams. Truth be told, working from home also became essential since we found ourselves sudden caretakers of not only my mom with a serious brain injury but my MIL with early-onset Alzheimers. And being creative is way more fun than crunching numbers and staring at spreadsheets!
ABOUT OUR SITE
After getting diagnosed with an immune system disorder that meant multiple dietary changes for me (no dairy, gluten, and sugar) and helping hubby come up with keto recipes to help jumpstart his weight loss, WLY was started to help others find quick and easy healthy recipes that actually taste GREAT! And we are BEYOND thankful for our 1 million+ visitors per month and 50,000,000 email subscribers!
The majority of our site recipes are low carb/keto-friendly or gluten-free, but we also love plant-based recipes and when I need a physical/mental health reset, always go straight to Whole30.
We use fresh ingredients and stay away from processed foods as much as possible in our day-to-day lives, that being said we're still human, have kids, and still stick to the old family holiday favorites come Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Since food blogging is a 70-80 hour per week job, not only is it a full-time business for me, but I feel blessed to work with my daughter, Madi (social media and admin), and my husband, Derek, was just able to retire early from his corporate job to help with recipe development (the meat master!)

COOKING EXPERIENCE
I'm a self-taught cook who has been tinkering and running food experiments in the kitchen for over 25 years. I'm always looking to learn more about food science through studying, testing, getting inspiration from foodie travel, or taking cooking classes.
We've been featured on sites such as MSN, Yahoo News, Parade, CafeMom, Yummly, Reddit, Forkly, and many more!
Cooking is a passion of mine and just love all of my kitchen gadgets, especially air frying, cooking in cast iron, or using an Instant Pot.
All of our recipes are created with the everyday cook in mind looking for mostly healthy recipes that are EASY and turn out perfect the first time!
