Boneless Turkey Breast in Air Fryer
This recipe is for a packaged turkey breast roast like a Butterball roast. You CAN follow these same instructions for a raw frozen turkey breast but it will take longer to cook than the recipe states (we have not tested this method), plus you might need to season it using the turkey seasoning in our air fryer turkey breast post.
Turkey roasts are a great substitute instead of cooking a huge turkey in the oven. Especially in the last couple of years many of us have found ourselves cooking for smaller numbers at our family gatherings, and while I hope we can get back to normal soon, it never hurts to have a surefire recipe for a small family.
Some other great uses for this air fryer boneless turkey breast are for meal prep, homemade lunch meat, use it in soup, or for freezing your cooked turkey leftovers to enjoy another time.

Ingredient Notes
This recipe is great because all the ingredients come in the frozen package, we used a Butterball frozen turkey breast roast! It will save you energy and free up time to prepare other delicious sides.
- 3 lb turkey breast roast, frozen - If you purchase a larger turkey roast, it will take longer to cook.
- Seasoning -Most packaged frozen boneless turkey breasts that you'll use in this air fryer boneless turkey breast recipe come pre-seasoned. If your frozen turkey breast doesn't come pre-seasoned, feel free to season it with a poultry seasoning of your choice, or use the seasoning blend from our Crispy Turkey Breast in Air Fryer Recipe
- The nutritional information on this recipe card does not include the gravy packets that many frozen turkey breasts come with. We used a Butterball for this recipe but opted not to include the gravy topping. You may also opt to make your own gravy. Just be sure that whatever topping you choose you evaluate that to fit within any dietary restrictions you may have.

Step by Step Instructions
This air fryer boneless turkey breast roast takes very little participation on the part of the chef. Just follow these steps and you'll be on your way to a delicious dinner!
Prep Ingredients
Preheat the Air Fryer to 350 F for 5 minutes.
Remove frozen pre-seasoned turkey breast roast from the packaging. No need to thaw. Loosely wrap frozen turkey breast in foil.
Cooking the Frozen Turkey
Place foil-wrapped frozen turkey breast in the preheated air fryer. Cook for 1 hour at 350 F with the breast down.
After 45 minutes remove the foil, and finish cooking it breast down for the remaining 15s.
Flip the turkey over with the breast side up and continue cooking for 30-45+ minutes, or until the internal temperature when tested with a meat thermometer reaches 160 F.
If the turkey is not at 160 F yet at this point, you'll need to cook it longer! The cooking time can vary based on the size and the wattage of your air fryer.
Let the turkey breast rest covered with more foil for 15 minutes before serving. The turkey will continue to cook while resting and will reach the desired USDA turkey breast cooking temperature of 170 F.
Slice and serve with your favorite holiday sides and gravy!
Recipe Tips
- This recipe is based on using a 2-3 lb frozen turkey breast roast. (See the above link if cooking an unfrozen or thawed turkey breast roast.)
- Foil is crucial to cooking this frozen turkey in an air fryer to lock moisture in.
- Flipping the roast, as well as using a meat thermometer is essential for this recipe. Especially since we are cooking from frozen.

Air Fryer Boneless Turkey Breast
This simple air fryer frozen turkey breast recipe using a frozen turkey roast like Butterball takes little to no preparation time and comes juicy on the inside and golden on the outside.
Ingredients
- 2.5-3 lb turkey breast roast, boneless and frozen
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer to 350 F for 5 minutes
- Remove the frozen turkey roast from the bag and remove all of its packaging. Wrap the turkey roast in aluminum foil.
- Place turkey breast skin down in the air fryer. Cook at 350 F for 1 hour, removing the foil after 45 minutes.
- Flip the turkey roast over and continue cooking in foil for 30-45 minutes, or until the internal turkey temperature reaches 160 F with a meat thermometer. Frozen boneless turkey roasts can be a little finicky, the main thing is to cook it until it reaches 160 F.
- Let rest for 15 minutes before serving, the boneless roast will continue cooking and should be at 170 F. Enjoy! Serve with all of your favorite holiday sides!
Notes
- This recipe is based on using a 2-3 lb frozen turkey breast roast like a Butterball boneless turkey roast that comes in a box.
- Foil is crucial to cooking this frozen turkey in air fryer. Frozen turkey breast roasts often have a browning agent on them, so if you don't cover them the outside will brown too quickly.
- Flipping the roast, as well as using a meat thermometer is essential for this recipe. Especially since we are cooking from frozen. Even if the outside seems cooked, you want to use the meat thermometer to ensure that the turkey roast is cooked through.
- If you have a frozen boneless turkey breast, you can still follow this recipe but we have not personally tested this with a raw frozen turkey breast. This recipe is for a pre-seasoned turkey breast roast. If you have a raw frozen boneless turkey breast you can season it with our air fryer turkey breast seasoning and follow the instructions. Please use an inexpensive meat thermometer so you know when the turkey is done cooking.

Unfortunately these instructions are unclear. Earlier text says to remove foil after 45 minutes and does not ever say to put it back on after flipping, meanwhile further down in the short-form recipe section, it says to continue to cook in foil (after removing foil for 15 minutes and flipping) so I’m not sure what to do.
WholeLottaYum says
Hi Crystal, my apologizes if things aren't clear! You're cooking the frozen turkey roast face down for 1 hour (removing the foil after 45 minutes), and then you flip the turkey breast side up and cook it approximately for 30-45 more minutes or until the internal temp is 160 F. It's possible yours could take a little less time or longer, the main thing is to check a thermometer and use that as a guide! Happy Easter! Jen

Awful recipe. Complete undercook. I had to cook it an additional 45 min on 400 to finish it correctly.
WholeLottaYum says
The recipe is for a shaped boneless turkey breast roast, not a frozen turkey breast. If you had a frozen turkey breast and not a store-bought roast it would change the cooking time.
Melissa says
I have a jennie-o frozen turkey breast with no skin and it comes in a oven bag. Would it work in the air fryer with no and removing the bag of course?
WholeLottaYum says
Hi Melissa, yes that should work! By chance if it's a smaller or larger size than the frozen turkey breast we used, keep a close eye on the internal temperature to make sure it's done. We highly recommend always using a digital meat thermometer to test to make sure it's done.
Marie says
I’m go to try this for the first time this year in my first air fryer. Do I use the air fry or bake setting?
WholeLottaYum says
The air fry setting 🙂
