I make microwave pepperoni chips when I want a quick, salty snack that's high in protein and ready in under five minutes. They're crunchy, flavorful, and the perfect swap for chips when you're keeping it low carb.

You'll love this easy snack because it's fast, mess-free, and easily customizable. Whether you're craving something to crunch on during movie night or need a high protein on-the-go snack, these crispy pepperoni chips hit the spot.
Things to Know Before Making Microwave Pepperoni Chips
- Don't skip the paper towels. They soak up the excess grease so the pepperoni crisps instead of getting soggy.
- Microwave times vary. Start with 1 minute and add time in small increments until they're crisp to your liking.
- Use thick or thin slices. Thicker pepperoni makes chewy, meatier chips, while thin ones crisp up like bacon.
- Let them cool. The pepperoni crisps even more as it cools on the paper towel, so give them a minute before serving.
I've been testing and sharing simple keto and high protein snacks and meals for years. I love these microwave pepperoni chips because they're ready in just 5 minutes and have the perfect mix of salty, crunchy, and low carb.

Ingredients Overview
- Pepperoni slices: Any brand works, but thinner pepperoni crisps faster and more evenly. If using thick-cut slices, expect a slightly longer cook time. We used Trader Joe's Volpi Gourmet Pepperoni
- Paper towels: Helps absorb oil during cooking to create that perfect crunch.
Note: Full measurements and details are in the recipe card below.
How to Cook Microwave Pepperoni Chips
Step 1: Layer two sheets of paper towels on a microwave-safe plate.
Step 2: Lay the pepperoni slices in a single layer without overlapping. Place another paper towel on top to prevent splatters.

Step 3: Cook for 1-3 minutes depending on your microwave power and the thickness of your pepperoni. Start with 60 seconds and add more time in 15-20 second increments until crispy.

Step 4: Remove the top towel and let the pepperoni chips cool for a minute before serving, they'll firm up as they rest.
Substitutions and Variations
- Sprinkle with parmesan or garlic powder before microwaving for added flavor.
- Use turkey pepperoni for a leaner option with less fat.
- Add a drizzle of hot sauce or everything bagel seasoning for extra kick.
- Dip them in ranch, guacamole, or marinara sauce for a fun appetizer twist.
What to Serve with Microwave Pepperoni Chips
These crispy bites are perfect on their own, but they also make a great topping for Keto Cheese Crackers, Parmesan Zucchini Chips, or Baked Parmesan Cheese Crisps.
Pair them with a dip like ranch, whipped ricotta, or blue cheese and some fruits and veggies for a simple low carb charcuterie board.

Storage and Freezing
Store leftover pepperoni chips in an airtight container lined with a paper towel to absorb moisture. They'll stay crisp at room temperature for 2-3 days. To re-crisp, microwave for 10-15 seconds.

Growing up I used to work at a pizza place when I was still in high school and we were always looking for alternatives to our regular menu. We used to make pepperoni chips in the oven all the time but we used sour cream for our dip! The crunchier slightly charreded edges give the pepperoni an even more delicious boost! Cheers!

Do they have to be kept in the refrigerator or is it okay in a container or zip lock on counter like regular chips
WholeLottaYum says
I would still keep them in the fridge since it's meat, that being said, a batch doesn't last long since they're addicting! You can let them sit out for a bit to bring them to room temperature after they've been in the fridge.
