When you're trying to eat healthier but don't want to skimp on flavor or have your friends and family annoyed at you for serving "diet food," our healthy buffalo chicken dip made with light cottage cheese and Greek yogurt is a total winner!
Each serving is 200 calories with 29 grams of protein and 2.5 carbs. Just combine all of the ingredients, top it with light cheese, and bake until bubbling.
No one will ever guess this is a lighter buffalo chicken dip recipe! And don't be scared off because of cottage cheese. I've never liked it cold and plain but it's a high protein powder hitter when you want to lighten up recipes.
What you'll need
- shredded chicken - use a rotisserie chicken or use our roasted chicken or boiled chicken breast recipes. These are great to have on hand for meal prep!
- light cottage cheese - the star of the recipe. This makes the dip super creamy and brings down the fat compared to other cottage cheese recipes.
- nonfat Greek yogurt
- light shredded cheese - Mix half into the dip and use the other half on top before baking. You can adjust the amount as needed. We used the Trader Joe's light Mexican shredded cheese.
- buffalo sauce - Frank's is a popular brand, we used Whole Foods brand (which was very good!) but we usually use Frank's.
- blue cheese (optional) - not necessary, but just a sprinkle adds a lot of flavor

Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip
Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded chicken (270 g)
- 1 cup light cottage cheese (226 g)
- ยฝ cup nonfat Greek yogurt (113 g)
- 1 cup light shredded cheese (112 g)
- ยผ-1/2 cup buffalo sauce (30 g) heat level can vary by brand
- 1 tablespoon blue cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- In a medium size bowl combine the shredded chicken, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, ยฝ cup shredded cheese, and buffalo sauce.
- Pour the dip into a 8×8 glass pan or small casserole dish. Top with remaining ยฝ cup of the shredded cheese. Add a sprinkle of blue cheese (optional).
- Bake for 20-25 mins until bubbling and the cheese is melted. Serve with tortilla chips, baby carrots, or celery sticks.
Notes
- Start with a lesser amount of buffalo wing sauce, such as ยผ cup, and add more to taste. Some brands are way hotter than others. The macros factor in using ยผ cup of buffalo sauce.
