Prep Ingredients
Cut potatoes and onions.
While the veggies are cooking, trim the extra fat from the chicken thighs and sprinkle them lightly with salt and pepper.
Temperature
Preheat the air fryer to 400 F for 5 minutes prior to cooking your air fryer chicken thighs and potatoes.
Cooking Time
Add the potato chunks, onion wedges, black pepper, salt, Italian seasoning, and olive oil to the air fryer basket. Toss to combine.
***NOTE: Try to keep the onion wedges together as the individual onion slices may burn on their own.
Air fry the potatoes and onions for 15 minutes, shaking the basket after 7-8 minutes of cooking time.
Lay the chicken thigh pieces on top of the potatoes and onions and air fry the chicken thighs and potatoes for 7-8 more minutes until the chicken is completely cooked through and the internal temperature tested in the thickest part of the chicken reaches 165 F.
Toss the chicken thighs and potatoes in air fryer together and serve immediately.
Recipe Tips
- Preheat your air fryer to ensure that the potatoes begin cooking immediatley.
- Try to keep the onion wedges together as much as possible (some will separate) to prevent them from burning.
- Do not double this recipe in your air fryer, otherwise, the ingredients will be too crowded together and they won't brown. If you need to make more, cook in batches.
- Air fryers can vary in cooking speed due to the watts. The recipe was tested in a Cosori 5.8 QT air fryer that's 1600 watts. If your air fryer has less watts it'll take longer to cook, if it has higher watts, it will cook faster.
