If you're looking for a creamy, low carb Alfredo sauce that takes just 10 minutes and tastes better than anything from a jar, our keto friendly Alfredo is about to be your new go-to over everything!

You'll love this low carb alfredo sauce with heavy whipping cream!
Our low carb Alfredo sauce recipe is rich, versatile, and perfect for everything from zucchini noodles to chicken alfredo to casseroles. We made it without milk and without flour to keep it gluten free and keto too.
We took our 40 year old family favorite alfredo sauce recipe with heavy whipping cream and adjusted it a bit to make sure it was low in carbs for our Whole Lotta Yum readers. Everyone always tells us it's the best alfredo!
Is Alfredo Sauce Keto?
Traditional Alfredo sauce is actually pretty keto-friendly by nature. It's made from full-fat ingredients like butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese and have no flour or added sugar.
The real problem? What you serve it with. Most pasta is packed with carbs, so we love using this homemade keto Alfredo sauce over spiralized veggies (like zucchini noodles), roasted chicken, or even baked casseroles.

How to Make Keto Alfredo Sauce
This comes together quickly on the stovetop in just 3 easy steps:

1. Melt the Butter
In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter.
2. Add Garlic, Cream & Cheese
Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Pour in the heavy cream and stir in the Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Simmer
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and stir constantly until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-4 minutes. Do not boil.
Serving Ideas
Our low carb Alfredo sauce works with just about everything:
- Over zucchini noodles (zoodles)
- Tossed with pan-seared or rotisserie chicken
- Drizzled over steamed broccoli or cauliflower
- As a creamy base for keto casseroles
- With sautéed shrimp or salmon

Want to Make Keto Chicken Alfredo?
If you're craving a quick keto chicken Alfredo dinner, this sauce makes it super easy. Just cook or reheat your 1 lb of chicken (grilled, baked, or rotisserie all work!) and spoon the hot Alfredo sauce over the top.
You can serve it with sautéed zucchini noodles, spaghetti squash, or low carb pasta, cauliflower rice, or roasted broccoli.

FAQs
How Many Net Carbs in Alfredo Sauce?
Keto alfredo sauce just has 2 net carb per serving, making this a terrific low carb sauce option if you're following a ketogenic diet. To keep the carbs down as much as possible, read labels to make sure the heavy whipping cream has 0 net carbs and always buy full-fat dairy products.
Is Classico Alfredo Sauce Keto Friendly?
For those times when you're in a hurry and don't have time to make alfredo sauce from scratch, Rao's brand is a good alternative. Rao's has 3 net carbs per serving, which is slightly higher than the homemade version.
Can I make this with cottage cheese?
Yes, but it's a different method! If you're looking for a high-protein, low carb Alfredo sauce made with cottage cheese, be sure to check out our recipe for Alfredo sauce with cottage cheese.
Instead of simmering on the stovetop like this classic version with heavy cream, the cottage cheese sauce is blended cold and then gently warmed with hot ingredients like pasta or cooked chicken. Since cottage cheese and heavy whipping cream aren't a 1:1 swap, the cooking process is a little different to avoid separation-but it's still creamy, delicious, and keto-friendly!
How Long Does This Keep?
The alfredo keto sauce recipe will keep for up to 5 days in the fridge. The sauce does thicken considerably when it cools if you reheat it and it's thicker than you'd prefer to add more cream or even almond milk to thin the sauce a bit.
