Instructions
Preheat an oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and position the oven rack to the center.
Carefully cut the Italian sausage links lengthwise, making sure to only cut about halfway down into the sausage.
Insert a cheese stick into each sausage and then pinch the top of the raw sausage closed over the top of the cheese. Place the sausages into a 9x9 baking dish.
Pour the marinara sauce over the top of the sausages. Bake for 30+ minutes until the sausage is cooked through and has an internal temp of 160+ when tested with a digital meat thermometer. Enjoy!
Notes
This recipe will work with any uncooked sausage whether it's mild Italian, sweet, spicy/hot, Italian chicken sausage, or even raw bratwurst. To add vegetables to the recipe, use a larger baking sheet or 9x13" pan and mix in chopped or thinly sliced onion slices, bell peppers, zucchini, or mushrooms. We used a frozen peppers mix as a shortcut. Rao's is a our favorite marinara sauce since it's made without sugar and tastes homemade. Walmart sells it cheaper than anywhere else. The macros in the recipe card is auto calculated and assumes you're using pork sausage. If you make this recipe with chicken sausage, you'd reduce the fat from 32 grams to 9 grams.
