A low carb and keto friendly margarita that takes just 5 minutes and has 5 net carbs per serving. No one will know this skinny margarita is sugar free!
Heat the water in a small saucepan, add the powdered Swerve once it comes to a boil. Turn the water down to low and simmer the ingredients for 5 minutes.
Let the low carb simple syrup cool completely before using it in your margarita. You only need 1 oz per cocktail so this makes lots of extras for future drinks! Keeps for up to a month.
Making a keto margarita on the rocks
Cut a lime into small sections and rub the lime juice from one lime along the edge of your glass. Pour a thin layer of course sea salt onto a small plate. Invert the glass upside down and twist it get it to cover the glass rim.
Fill up a shaker most of the way with ice. If you don’t have a shaker you can just mix things together in a glass.
Add the tequila, lime juice, orange juice, and keto simple syrup to the shaker. Shake vigorously.
Fill a margarita glass up with ice and pour the shaken low carb margarita over the ice. Serve with a lime wedge.
Making a keto frozen margarita
Add your low carb margarita ingredients to a pitcher along with 2 cups of ice and blend it until the ice is crushed.
Serve with a lime wedge and enjoy!
Notes
You can use 1 teaspoon of pure orange extract in place of the orange juice.Skip the keto simple syrup and just add liquid stevia to taste. Store-bought keto friendly simple syrup can be used instead of homemade.Frozen margaritas don't keep well and should be consumed immediately.The low carb margarita mix can be kept in the fridge for up to a couple days before serving over the rocks or blending with ice.
